Karen Foxlee, who completed her Bachelor of Arts at the University of the Sunshine Coast in mid-2005, has won the Emerging Queensland Author – Manuscript Award in the 2006 Queensland Premier's Literary Awards. The prize includes a publishing contract with the University of Queensland Press as well as $20,000 giving Karen more time to focus on her writing.
