Dr Jauncey is a keynote speaker and performance psychologist and works with the likes of the Australian Cricket Team, the Australian Baseball Team, the Brisbane Broncos, the Queensland Bulls, the Brisbane Lions and as attending sports psychologist to the Australian Olympic teams. “Education is an integral part of Storm Financial's philosophy and we invited Phil Jauncey to share his experiences and vast knowledge with our clients and other guests as part of that vision,” said Jodie McIver, Financial Planner and manager of Storm Financial's Sunshine Coast office. “A fundamental part of Storm's success lies in the time we take to ensure clients are informed and understand why they are making decisions that will affect their future prosperity. We want our clients to understand the journey they are embarking on when working with us so education and information sharing are vital for our success.” Dr Jauncey's two and a half hour presentation was packed with helpful advice applicable to business and to personal success. In his dynamic two-and-a-half hour presentation, Dr Jauncey used his wealth of experience and anecdotes from the sportsmen and women we have come to know so well, to identify why people fail and why they succeed. He discussed the difference between positive thinking and positive doing and explored why people make excuses and how these impact on those around them. “Our society has a cultural disease that says ‘It is OK to fail as long as I feel good about it'. So when one is not being successful, there is an almost overpowering temptation not to fix the failure,” Dr Jauncey said. “You may not be able to control your environment but you are responsible for everything you do. So the key is to always ask yourself, Do I like what I am doing? or Is what I am doing getting me to where I want to get? If not, it's up to me to change. If it works, carry on doing it but if it doesn't you have to change and that applies to everything in life.” Emmanuel Cassimatis, Director and CEO of Storm Financial which manages some $3 billion of client funds, presented the Storm philosophy to guests earlier in the evening and also discussed the impact of major Asian markets such as China and India on the world economy and what opportunities these provide for the wealth creation of Australians.
