The region has over 200 kilometres of coastline, over 4,000 km of roads, nearly 800 kilometres of bikeways and over 13,000 hectares of parks and bushland. The broad coastal plains and foothills have been a focus for agriculture and urban development. These coastal areas merge westward into a backdrop of ranges, peaks and valleys occupied by a patchwork of forests, rural lands and small townships. An attractive area with a mild sub-tropical climate, the Sunshine Coast provides a wide range of urban and rural lifestyle options and attracts local, national and international visitors. The region has and will continue to experience levels of population growth that exceed state and national averages. However, many of the coastal centres and hinterland towns maintain particular elements that their communities value highly. While well connected to the rest of South East Queensland, the extensive non urban break between the greater Brisbane area and the Sunshine Coast helps to preserve the regions identity and lifestyle. websitecontact details
