The lunch marks the launch of the highly prestigious awards which recognise women who have made an outstanding contribution to business on the Sunshine Coast across a number of categories. Sue W illis, President of the Sunshine Coast Business Women's Network which hosts the awards, believes we are very fortunate to have so many exceptional women in business on the Coast. “The awards recognise the remarkable women who operate on the Sunshine Coast and each year the calibre of nominations exceeds our expectations,” Sue said. “If you have a colleague, friend, relative or partner who is outstanding in their field of expertise, we encourage you to nominate them. It is really simple to make a nomination and the outcome is very rewarding for those who participate in the submission process.” Entries are currently open across four categories - corporate, micro/small business, professional and young business woman, with the overall winner taking home the coveted title of Outstanding Business Woman of the Year. The major sponsors for this year's awards include the Sunshine Coast Daily, The University of the Sunshine Coast Faculty of Business, Garland Waddington Solicitors, ANZ and Telstra Country Wide. Those attending the launch event will have the opportunity to hear from the 2008 Outstanding Business Woman of the Year, Vicki Clark who will host the event as well as guest speaker, Debbi Smith. Debbi, an ex-policewoman who worked on the Fitzgerald Inquiry, now runs the Sunshine Coast Division of an International Traders Education Company and acts as a personal mentor to help clients such as renowned international speaker, Amanda Gore, find their true alignment. Nominations for the 2010 Business Woman of the Year close on Thursday, May 13 with the Gala Event being held on Saturday, August 14 at the Hyatt Regency Coolum.
