Now in its tenth year, the awards evening is noted for its professionalism and acknowledges outstanding women for the invaluable contribution they make to the business community. Sunshine Coast Business Women's Network President, Sue Willis says that each year the awards are highly contended and it is an achievement unto itself to be nominated and selected. “We are very fortunate to have so many exceptional business women on the Sunshine Coast . This year's finalists are all amazing women, who impress and inspire with their strength, dedication and accomplishments”, said Sue. A prominent event on the business calendar, the awards recognise and celebrate the many achievements of women from a diverse range of industries. The award categories include corporate, micro/small business, professional and young business woman, with the overall winner taking home the title of Outstanding Business Woman of the Year. “From business owners to corporate leaders, to innovators, community visionaries and successful young women, the Sunshine Coast Business Woman of Year winners have all come from a wonderfully diverse set of backgrounds and experiences,” said Sue. While many of the past winners have gone on to become finalists of, and even as far as to win, the state and national Telstra Business Awards, Kaitlyn Akers, 2007 Professional Business Woman of the Year, knows just how important and esteemed the awards are. “The awards celebrate those who have not only achieved success in their careers but who also make a valuable contribution to the community and are role models for others,” said Kaitlyn. “Participating in the program was a rewarding experience which allowed me to meet fascinating and courageous women from all walks of life.” Excitement is certainly mounting ahead of this year's awards as we early anticipate the gala event to be held on August 12.
