Now in its third year, the event aims to recognise and celebrate the contributions of nurses by dedicating a day of celebrations to them. This year the vibrant event will be hosted at the iconic Sunshine Coast Castle where teams will have the opportunity to run, wrap, joust and dodge their way to victory for the highly coveted Golden Bed Pan Trophy. Regional Nursing Solutions Managing Director, Sue Dunlop says the highly entertaining race has attracted significant attention over the years and the fun day out has become a highlight on the nursing calendar. “Some teams are already in training to compete for the trophy and what started as a fun day to thank our wonderful nurses has become quite a talking point,” said Sue. “There wouldn't be an Australian who hasn't personally been touched by the wonderful service our nurses provide - whether for themselves, family or friends. They are there for us when times are tough and this event gives us the opportunity to say thank you.” The race activities will be followed by a traditional medieval feast where guests will be entertained with a ‘knight to remember' for the great work nurses and carers achieve every day. “At Regional Nursing Solutions we hope to provide an initiative which not only encourages the community to recognise and celebrate their contribution, but also foster a culture of positive progression,” said Sue. “As the event grows we hope to spread our message a little further. Everyone's life has been touched by those in the nursing or health care profession and for us it's just about giving those men and women the big wrap they deserve,” said Sue.
