Kick start gets business flying

The prospect of starting your own business can be very overwhelming, particularly in our current economic climate, which is why a kick start initiative introduced by developer MC Property to help foster small business and enterprise in the region is being embraced by budding entrepreneurs like Buderim local, John Pears.

Launched earlier this year, the Kick Start Program aims to provide financial assistance to new and emerging businesses in setting up their business premises at the company's state-of-the-art commercial and industrial development, Sugar Road Central in Maroochydore.

Successful applicant, John Pears has always wanted to own his own business and this program has given him the kick start needed. With over 15 years experience installing and servicing air compressors, MC Property has helped John to take that leap in setting up his new venture, Pacific Compressed Air.

MC Property Director, Marios Constantinides, knows first hand how difficult and financially taxing setting up a new business can be and says that the program aims to provide enterprising individuals and new businesses with the support and financial assistance necessary to help get their big ideas off the ground.

“Small business plays a pivotal role in our regional economy and through this initiative I hope to give something back to the community, by assisting new businesses with their initial set up costs or expenses, depending on their individual needs,” said Mr Constantinides.

“The program has already received an enormous amount of interest but John really stood out of other candidates showing determination, enthusiasm and passion as well as displaying a number of admirable business qualities.”

While still working a full-time job, John has spent his weekends getting his new business up and running offering customers excellent service and competitive prices.

“I've always wanted run my own business and through the Kick Start Program, MC Property is providing me with the opportunity to do so and I look forward to working with them to achieve my business goals,” said John.

The development is due for completion by August 2008 and MC Property is still taking applications for the program.

“The Sugar Road Development will provide the ideal location for new businesses, transforming this complex into a vibrant hub which will foster creativity, innovation and community.”
