Frogology hops along to Expo

04 July 2008

Direct from the Melbourne International Flower Show, world famous Jane Davenport will showcase her latest ‘Frogology' exhibit at the Queensland Home Garden Expo to be held at Maroochy Showgrounds, Nambour from July 11-13.

An internationally recognised artist, Jane started her career as a runway photographer but has traded the catwalks for the outdoors, combining her love for the garden, passion for photography and obsession with insects to create Artomology.

Now Jane captures the show-ponies of the garden as they pose in the latest spring fashion and parade down petal catwalks.

“It's not really so different from photographing supermodels” says Jane who has swapped the human kind of social butterfly for the real thing.

She describes herself as an ‘Artomologist' finding it the perfect way to define her unique mix of art and entomological persuasions. Her work has featured in over 30 exhibitions throughout Australia and New Zealand and to demonstrate this amazing art form, there will be around 30 flags set up showing her amazing photography as a spectacular welcome to the Expo.

Through her new Frogology exhibit, Jane hopes to inspire one million people to become ‘Frogologists' and dedicate part of their backyards to creating valuable frog habitats and join in frog conservation projects.

Marion Beazley, Event Organiser said that she is really excited about welcoming the award-winning artist back to the Expo and is excited about the display which she is certain will be a hit with the kids.

“Every year we challenge ourselves to find exhibitors and artists who can add a new dimension to the Expo and offer the public a unique experience. We are very excited to have Jane Davenport's spectacular flags and to profile some of our favourite garden residents,” said Marion.

To compliment Jane's exhibit, another passionate environmentalist and landscaper Sean Morrow from One Earth Landscaping will be creating a full-size display garden at the Expo to illustrate simple and creative ways to bring nature into your back garden. Sean will provide visitors with information on how to create their very own native bird and frog habitats.

One of the top five gardening events in Australia, the Queensland Home Garden Expo is an event not to be missed. Gates open at 8am daily or for more information, please visit www.homegardenexpo.com.au.
