Having been involved in the Expo since its inception, Colin will be presenting a number of workshops and lectures encouraging garden novices and green thumbs alike to get back to basics, providing step-by-step advice to help keep your garden in great condition all year round. Colin says that for any garden to flourish we need to understand the practical gardening essentials from picking out the right plants, to planting techniques and changing weather conditions, which can be of particular importance for those moving to the area from interstate. “This year I'll return to the basics of gardening, passing on many helpful hints, valuable tips and secrets for success that I've learnt from my father and other great gardeners over the years,” said Colin. The Expo has continued to grow in popularity over the years and has expanded to include six live stages that will host a variety of lectures, demonstrations and workshops, by some of Australia's leading garden experts including ABC radio host Annette McFarlane, Brisbane Botanical Gardens Curator, Ross McKinnon and Phil Dudman, presenter on WIN TV's Gardening Gurus Show. Visitors can learn everything from being water wise and discovering clean energy, to the benefits of worms and insects in the garden as well as creating native bird and frog habitats. Colin will also be broadcasting his Radio 4BC Gardening Talkback Program live from the Expo on Saturday and Sunday. “During the past 24 years, we have had everything from flooding rain to droughts, but the Expo has continued to be a popular draw card for garden lovers and horticultural professionals and has flourished to become one of the most respected gardening events is the country,” said Colin. The event, which attracts over 20,000 visitors every year, will be held at the Maroochy Showgrounds, Nambour from July 11-13. If you are a novice, an avid gardener, collector or just looking for a great day out, be sure to head along to this year's Queensland Home Garden Expo.
