The event which attracts over 20,000 garden lovers and hundreds of horticulture professionals to the Sunshine Coast every year has become a popular date on the calendar for garden lovers and this year promises to offer visitors more than ever. “The Queensland Home Garden Expo is now ranked number one in Queensland and places amongst the top five gardening events in the country,“ Event Manager, Marion Beazley said. “The event not only provides a wealth of information and inspiration for visitors, it is also a great and entertaining day out for the whole family.” The Channel 7 Landscape Challenge is already underway with many of the full-size gardens already starting to take shape. This year's landscaped gardens will focus on unique design concepts such as water-wise gardening, permaculture, sustainability and gardening with native plants. Special exhibits include the ‘Giant Organic Kitchen Garden' which features permaculture and organic gardening, the new ‘Outdoor Garden Experience' encompassing seven themed garden scapes, floral art competitions, a fabulous Shade House feature with all the best in ferns and shade-loving plants as well as large displays from Queensland's Garden Clubs and Flora Societies. Celebrity photographer to the infamous insect world, Jane Davenport will be presenting her eye-catching exhibition of colourful banners for the first time in Queensland and will be giving daily talks on beneficial bugs in your garden – how to spot them and get them working harder for you. Five live stages hosting lectures, demos and workshops will offer free advice and information all day, every day from some of Australia 's leading garden experts. Radio 4BC's Col Campbell, ABC radio host Annette McFarlane, Brisbane Botanical Gardens Curator Ross McKinnon AM and Phil Dudman, presenter on WIN TV's Gardening Gurus Show, will all be in attendance. The expo will also feature tantalising offerings from more than 350 exhibitors including 60 of the best nurseries selling over 40,000 top quality plants with new releases daily. Everything from the latest garden tools, pots, garden art, water features, books, mowers and trimmers, tanks, accessories and more will be on-site over the three days. Take a stroll through the wonderful gardens and sample some of the exotic fruits on display at the Birdwood Nursery site and watch some of Queensland best botanical artists at work. There will also be loads of entertainment from stilt walkers to fashion parades as well as a variety of exotic and delicious food stalls, plenty of seating, children's activities and so much more.
