James Morrison doodles for Sunshine Coast charity

4 September 2008

This weekend James Morrison will not only entertain crowds at the Noosa Jazz Festival, he will also doodle for charity live on stage at Berardo's to help raise funds for the Sunshine Coast Community Hospice.

The local company behind this unique concept, DoodleJam, is encouraging celebrities to create their own doodles and donate their works for an upcoming auction to raise much needed funds to build the Sunshine Coast's first free standing hospice.

DoodleJam's Director, Paul Francis says he is delighted to have James Morrison involved in this project and says that having a high-profile musician doodle for charity will not only raise the profile of the charity but also help generate additional interest in the auction in October.

“As our celebrities complete their doodles we will display them in our Noosa Marina gallery as well as on our website, doodlejam.com. Members of the public can vote for their favourite doodles, which in turn will influence the reserve price on auction day,” said Paul.

“Doodling allows you to capture a moment in time on canvas and the good news is that you don't need any artistic talent to have fun and express yourself.”

The doodles will also be accompanied by the celebrity's audio description of the inspirations behind their creations.

Other high-profile identities who will be doodling for charity include Sunshine Coast Mayor Bob Abbot, Mark McArdle, Scott Cam, Troy Cassar-Daley, Jo Beth Taylor, Rosanna Natoli, Stephen Bradbury, Ronnie, Todd, Sami and Bilko, Caroline Hutchinson, AFL's Simon Black and Frances Whiting.

“I would like to encourage everyone to get involved in supporting this worthy cause. Get online to vote and join us for the charity auction at the Australis Noosa Lakes in October,” said Paul.

James Morrison and his band will doodle live on stage with Jim Berardo and Emma Pask during his dinner performances on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday as well as the Saturday lunchtime session.
