Troy, an internationally renowned kite flyer and performer, has travelled the world entertaining people with his impressive multiple sport kite flying skills and mesmerising performances. He has performed for the Sultan of Johor in Malaysia, the Chief Minister of Gujarat in India and in the famous Cirque du Soleil. His spectacular kiting performances include flying multiple sport kites at the one time - for which he holds the world record - flying large single line kites and, when the opportunity is available, performing indoor sport kite demonstrations without wind or fans of any kind. Ray and Rosemary McCully from Rotorua in New Zealand have travelled the world, attending kite festivals in Hong Kong, Thailand, France, the United States and South Africa and will this year come to Coolum. The couple always manages to draw a crowd with their wonderful array of unique kite designs which depict various aspects of Maori legends and culture. IGA Coolum Kite Festival Chairman, Noel Mooney says that the attention the event has received in the international kite flying arena was a true testament to the quality of the festival. “We are really excited about welcoming these visitors to the Coast and with the most extensive program to date, we are confident that this year's festival will continue to attract the rave reviews it has received in the past from the thousands of visitors who make the pilgrimage down the beach to the creek,” said Noel The vibrant event, which has grown in popularity over the years, is expected to attract over 40,000 people to its spectacular beach setting from September 22-23, including members of the Balinese Royal Family, renowned artists and sculptors as was well as some of the best national and international kite flyers. “The skies will be alive with the spectacular array of kites during the day and the evening program will provide a diverse range of entertainment by moonlight, including fantastic live bands,” said Noel.
