The band was in desperate need of a new trailer for transporting and storing their instruments and staging equipment, as their previous one, which was over 10 years old, was experiencing ongoing leakage, transportation and storage problems. Musician Lynn Jones along with band member and ‘roadie', Cliff Travers decided to apply for the grant, which they were successfully awarded. Together they designed a new trailer specifically suited to the band's requirements. “The purpose built trailer, makes travel to and from concerts much easier and has resulted in a number of benefits to the organisation as well as the community,” said Lynn. “It's waterproof so our valuable equipment remains dry and allows ease of access without damaging any gear. The trailer saves us time when packing and unpacking, has increased our carrying capacity and is much safer and easier to attach to different vehicles.” The grant has allowed the Sunshine Coast Concert Band to continue to share their passion with audiences across the coast while helping worthy organisations such as the Nambour Special School, Legacy and Coolum High School Chaplaincy Fund raise much needed funds. “Without a doubt the trailer is a wonderful asset to the band and we are thankful to the Queensland Government Gambling Community Benefit for awarding the grant,” said Lynn.
