Big band needs a drummer boy... or girl

February 13, 2007

Just when you thought you'd heard the last of the “little drummer boy” until next Christmas, the Sunshine Coast Concert Band is raising the call for a drummer of their own.

The forty-piece band has raised over $100,000 for local charities since its inception ten years ago and is made up of volunteers who love their music and enjoy bringing the joy of a big band to their many fans across the Sunshine Coast .

“We are an enthusiastic bunch who get together on Wednesday evenings for two-hour rehearsals and perform monthly to raise money for Sunshine Coast charities,” said Ken Chadwick, the band's Musical Director and Conductor.

“We have a drum set but are looking for the services of an experienced drummer to join us – the drummer is an essential part of any band and we hope to find someone locally who is able to help us out.”

The band plays a range of different music and members of the band range from 14 to 80 in age.

Interested candidates must be able to read music and should contact Ken Chadwick on 5450 6680.

Ends.
