Big band supports Legacy

The Sunshine Coast Concert Band will present a Remembrance Day Concert in support of Sunshine Coast Legacy on Saturday, 11 November at 2pm at the Baptist Community Centre in Wises Road , Maroochydore.

The event will begin with a short Remembrance Day Ceremony with piper, Wayne Clark, bugler, Keith Walker and a Catafalque Party from the 128 Army Cadet Unit.

The concert will then be started with the march, Colonel Bogey , followed by The Lord is My Shepherd.

Guest singers, Bev Gourlay and Alan Winter will accompany the band and the event will be hosted by compere, Graham Schulz.

“We are delighted to be able to support such a worthy cause as Legacy through one of our concerts,” musical director, Ken Chadwick said.

“We will remember those who bravely fought for our country with an enjoyable programme including some special war-time favourites and sing-a-longs.”

Since their inception in 1923, Legacy, has helped widows, children and dependents of those who have served in the Australian armed forces in any conflicts since the First World War.

Some of the favourites included in the line-up are You Raise Me Up , Harlem Nocturne, March of the Bobcats, Oklahoma Selections, Tijuana Brass, All the Things you are, I've got you Under my Skin and Golden Wedding .
