Get on those dancing shoes

29 June 2006

The award winning Sunshine Coast Concert Band will get locals swinging to Sinatra, Michael Buble and the classics of Glenn Miller at their Showband dance at the Kawana Community Hall in Buddina on Saturday, 8 July from 7:30pm.

The band, led by Musical Director, Ken Chadwick has been hosting dances for years and they have become a regular fixture on the calendar for those who want to get out and enjoy old favourites such as the foxtrot, modern waltz, jazz and, of course, rock and roll.

Alan Winter will be singing with the band, crooning Sinatra and Buble numbers which are sure to get the hips swaying and the feet tapping. The evening will also feature John Lesslie leading the trumpets, Charlie Sim Alto Sax and Clarinet, Ian Edwards on Tenor, Keith Dowsett and Peter Stonehouse on Trombones and Alan Dowdle on drums.

The evening which is BYO is from 7:30 – 11pm and tickets cost $12.50. As these dances are usually sold out, it is advisable to arrange tickets in advance by contacting 5450 6680. The Kawana Community Hall is off Pt Cartwright Drive in Buddina.

Ends.
